BIOGRAPHY

We grew up, married and raised a family in Rhodesia. I trained as a development economist in Zimbabwe and worked in the rural areas. Throughout the brutal civil war in the 1960s, I worked in the Justice and Peace Commission mediating between the army, the guerrillas and the peasants caught in the middle. I came to understand that in times of trauma and pain, the prayers and support we received from our community group was mutually empowering and enabling.

Refusing to join the army in Rhodesia we left and came to New Zealand where I retrained as a Family Counsellor. We are part of Pax Christi and the Peace Place; I am a Benedictine Oblate and we meditate daily, I run a counselling clinic, just retired from lecturing at Unitec; I paint, research communication in relationships and sustainable communities.
