Peace – source of our healing and care of others

In this workshop I will share some of my own journey into the solitary contemplative life and the healing that has come from that. Our time of personal reflection will use contemplative practices and poetry to enable a focus on how living deeply at the level of soul can bring healing peace into our everyday relationships and experiences.

BIOGRAPHY

I am a Benedictine Solitary, and oblate Associate in the Anglican Order of the Holy Cross in NZ. In 1966 I encountered Buddhist meditation and the writings of John Main; experiences which began a lifelong journey into meditative life and practice, and which now form an integral part of my life and growth as teacher, priest and writer. My writing has included researching and presenting, nationally, a seminar on Spiritual Health; places that included hospitals, hospice and churches. My contemplative poetry has appeared in a variety of publications both in NZ and overseas, and forms part of my teaching on the contemplative life and the life-giving mystery of silence. I draw on Benedictine understandings of health as wholeness nurtured through daily rhythms that hold work, meditation and re-creation in life-giving tensions, and in my offering of formation companioning, retreats and quiet days for those discerning new directions in their spiritual journey.
